Blackberry 10, the Future of RIM

Blackberry 10, the Future of RIM

By Abe Warraich

Over the past year consumers have begun to question RIM’s position in the fiercely competitive smart phone market.

Their biggest rival, Apple, has necessitated the need for RIM to reinvent their product lines as users are expressing dissatisfaction with their Blackberry phones and reaching for any chance to pick up the new iPhone 4S. Understandably, Apple has capitalized on the shortcomings of the Blackberry phone by ensuring that their new iPhone well exceeds any consumer demand and need. RIM’s reputation as an industry leader is no longer present and their Blackberry line is continuously losing market share to Apple’s iPhone.

Although, RIM has seen many pitfalls in the past year, they have recently unveiled their upcoming Blackberry 10 design. The groundbreaking features of this phone illustrate the immense effort RIM is putting towards challenging Apple’s dominance. The Blackberry 10 will surely test the iPhone like no other phone because it is the launching pad for some of the most innovative smart phone technology. This new phone will give RIM the credibility needed to rebuild their brand image. Here are five exciting features coming out in the new Blackberry 10:

1. New Operating System

The new OS built for Blackberry 10 is UNIX based and delivers eye-grabbing graphics. The look has been modernized with more accessible shortcuts and visually appealing tabs.

2. Keyboard Intelligence

The phone provides users with a smooth touchscreen keyboard similar to other phones available in the market. However, this keyboard pays attention to the strokes you make and adjusts to your style of typing. It has the feature of predicting your next word by displaying it on top of the letter pressed.

3. Flow View

Flow view is the name given by RIM to how the Blackberry 10 integrates all social media applications. Instead of closing one application like Facebook or Twitter to start another, they are built into the OS giving the user more ease when checking social media accounts.

4. Screen Sharing

This feature has not been officially announced by RIM yet, but it is for certain that it will be part of the phone. The screen-sharing feature will allow the user to wirelessly display content from the phone to devices in near location.

5. Camera App

The new Blackberry camera app is the most inventive image-capturing feature available in a smart phone yet. The camera starts taking frames of image before you actually hit the shutter release. This gives the user the ability to “rewind” images. In cases where someone’s eyes are closed or head is turned, the user can rewind that person to a previous frame creating perfect pictures every time.

Have you ever considered about adding a little bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you say is important and all. However just imagine if you added some great graphics or videos to give your posts more, "pop"! Your content is excellent but with images and videos, this website could certainly be one of the very best in its niche. Great blog!
